RRE

Info

RRE has been backing the best since 1994. One of the oldest and most active VC firms in New York, they’ve invested in over 400 companies across the U.S. and Canada. Often as a first check. Their portfolio includes the likes of Binance, Datadog, Palantir, and Ripple. We worked with their core team to update their brand and digital experience.

Most venture firms look the same. Safe sans serif from Google Fonts. Stock photos of handshakes and glass buildings. Overwhelming grids of outdated portfolio logos. The visual language of half-heartedly trying to say they provide more value than money. RRE had a different problem — they were clearly trying to share a different perspective but their retro-inspired identity looked more nostalgic than forward-thinking. The heavily saturated blue and pixelated aesthetic that once felt clever now felt outdated. And their website had devolved into a maze of confusing messaging and dead-end user paths that buried their track record under poor user experience.

We recognized that RRE's longevity wasn't a liability to overcome but their greatest proof point. The insight became clear: success isn't accidental, it's repeatable. RRE doesn't just stumble into good outcomes, they've systematically built repeat success for three decades by putting founders first, seeing around corners, and trusting entrepreneur instincts over market analysis.

The rebrand centers on the concept of “rrepeat success” — the belief that success isn’t something that just happens but can be made to happen again and again despite changing company leaders, economic cycles, technology waves, and market opportunities. We elevated their founder-first ethos with a clear-eyed stance: “We don’t build companies, we build up those who do.”

Visually, we preserved the retro sensibility they requested but elevated it into something more sophisticated. The refined color palette keeps their signature blue while adding classical depth. Our custom dithering effect transforms photography, layering halftone bitmap textures at 30% opacity to merge heritage qualities with technological modernity. We even built a browser-based dithering tool so their team can create on-brand visuals instantly.

The website experience is layered but intuitive with plenty of smart flourishes: an icon system inspired by early computing, bitmapped textures that nod to the internet’s early days, and unexpected graphic details that make the work feel cared for. It was constructed to digitally organize a long history of success. Want to see exited seed investments? No problem, they’re all right here. Need to know areas of investment? Sure, here’s a short list. Interested in the background of a particular investor? Check it out right here.

As a result, RRE looks the part of what they've always been. A successful venture firm with the wisdom and track record to back the next generation of great entrepreneurs.
